Lake Annecy seen from a temporary beach at Jet de la Rose below Roc de Chère, in Talloires. It feels a bit like some tropical island… The beach usually appears in the fall when the water level of the lake is lower. These days, there has been a drought all summer so it is particulary low.
In late summer, I went on a hike to Lacs Noirs in Chamonix. I had already been there many times but that day, I wanted to go up to the ridge north of the lakes, walk around the hill next to it, then reach Col des Lacs Noirs and finally go back to the lakes. I couldn’t find much info about that area: Only that hike report which describes a climb to Aiguilles de la Glière passing that way. In the end, I accomplished my goal and walked a loop around both lakes.

I submitted that photo as my shot for this year’s “Your Best Shot 2025” on Flickr. It is nothing special technically but it was one of the best views I had this year. Here are more photos of the hike to Roche Parstire (starting from Lac de Saint-Guérin). That hike was quite easy and offered great views.
In the summer of 2023, I went on a hike to Pointe Noire de Pormenaz. I had tried a few times before to reach the summit, but the paths I chose were not quick enough so I gave up. That summer, there was an early bus from Saint-Gervais so I made another attempt. On the way up, I took an alternate trail that I had scoped out during a previous attempt. On the way down, I walked to the Servoz train station.
In the summer of 2022, I went on a hike to Rocher de Salin, in the Bornes mountains above Entremont. I also passed trough Lac de Lessy.
During the summer of 2020, I walked along Lac du Bourget from the Grand Port of Aix-les-Bains to Le Bourget-du-Lac. I also visited Château de Thomas II on the way.
Last summer, I went on a hike in Chamonix and visited another series of lakes: Starting from the upper station of Télécabine de la Flégère, I walked through Lacs des Chéserys, Lac de la Remuaz, Lac de la Persévérance, Lac Blanc and Lac de la Flégère.
Last summer, I went on hike in the Beaufortain mountains: I walked from Les Contamines-Montjoie to Beaufort-sur-Doron, passing above Lac de la Girotte.
A few weeks ago, I went on a hike to Lac Bénit, a small lake located below Petit Bargy.
