Hike to Mont Baret
At the beginning of spring, I went on a hike to Mont Baret, a mountain located on the north-east of Lake Annecy, between Mont Veyrier and Col de Bluffy.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML):
In the morning, I walked to the trailhead of Mont Veyrier and Mont Baron, near the lake in Annecy-le-Vieux. I began on the standard path but soon turned towards Talabar. I kept walking south until I arrived below the Chapeau de Napoléon, where I took a steep trail to Col des Contrebandiers, between Mont Baron and Mont Baret. I then started on the final part to the ridge of Mont Baret. It was not very well marked, only with some blue paint on rocks and trees. Once I reached the ridge, there was no trail to the actual summit but it was just an easy 5min walk in the forest. Next to the summit, there was a viewpoint with a great view on the Bornes mountains. I then kept on the ridge walking down then up again to the second summit (the one most prominent when seem from Annecy). There was a view of the lake from there. Finally, I went down on a steep trail towards Col de Bluffy, in order to take a LIHSA bus (62 line) back to Annecy-le-Vieux.

Above, when I went on the hike, the usual trail was blocked by fallen trees. Instead, I took a steeper secondary trail that cut through some of the switchbacks.
