Hike to Col des Nantets, Col de l'Aulp & Col de la Forclaz: From Thônes to Doussard
In spring 2021, I walked from Thônes to Doussard, passing though 3 saddles: Col des Nantets, Col de l’Aulp and Col de la Forclaz.
In spring 2021, I walked from Thônes to Doussard, passing though 3 saddles: Col des Nantets, Col de l’Aulp and Col de la Forclaz.
Last spring, I went on a hike near Annecy: I reached Barrage de Brassilly, a dam on the Fier river, and walked along Nant de Calvi.
In early spring 2021, I went on a hike across Bluffy and Alex passing by the waterfalls in the area: Cascade de Montviard and Cascade du Nant d’Alex.
In the spring of 2020, I went on a hike along the Rhône near Fort l’Écluse: I walked between Pont de Grésin and Pont Carnot on both sides of the river in Ain and Haute-Savoie.
In the fall of 2020, I went on a hike to Montagne des Princes, starting from Frangy and arriving in Seyssel.
At the end of the summer of 2020, I went on a hike in Geneva, following the Swiss part of the Allondon river until its confluence with the Rhône. The river starts in Pays de Gex (France) below the Jura mountains. I visited its source many years ago.
Here is an official brochure (PDF) about the Allondon river.
During the summer of 2020, I went on a hike along the right bank of the Rhône in Geneva: Starting from Pont de Sous-Terre in the city, I walked all the way to Russin.
It is not as straightforward or pleasant as the Sentier du Rhône on the left bank but the path has its moments. Since then, I also walked a third section of the Rhône in Geneva: Starting in Valleiry (in France), I crossed the border at the Far West of Geneva and walked upstream towards Russin. Here are some photos.
Earlier this year, at the beginning of summer, I went on a short hike to Crêt de la Dame and Mont Pelé, in Allonzier-la-Caille north of Annecy.
Mont Pelé is the small mountain that can be seen from Pont de la Caille when looking towards Allonzier. I couldn’t find a hike report or guide about it online so I went to check it out, walking a loop through the two mountains.
In the Spring of 2020, I went on a loop between Annecy-le-Vieux and Nâves-Parmelan: Starting from Vignières near where I live, I crossed the Fier and walked along the river, then visited Cascade de Grattepanche (Grattepanche Waterfall).
