Lac de Roselend and Mont Blanc seen from near Roche Parstire.
I submitted that photo as my shot for this year’s “Your Best Shot 2025” on Flickr. It is nothing special technically but it was one of the best views I had this year. Here are more photos of the hike to Roche Parstire (starting from Lac de Saint-Guérin). That hike was quite easy and offered great views.
Some stray cats playing in Montmélian.
I submitted that photo as my shot for “Your Best Shot 2024” on Flickr. It became my most popular photo of 2024!
Here are some photos I took in April.
Above, in Cirque-du-Fer-à-Cheval. I had been there many years ago, in the fall. I wanted to come back when the snow was melting: The buses that went there from Cluses stopped running at the end of April so I waited for both the paths to be walkable and the temperature to be high enough so I could see the waterfalls at their best. Unfortunately, there was a cold spell by then but I still went. It was pretty cold but some of the waterfalls were still flowing fast thanks to the sun.
Here are some photos I took last month.
Above, Cascade du Dard above Villaz. It is currently quite hot and the snow is melting: Torrents are flowing fast and it is a great time to visit waterfalls.
Some flowers I have seen recently during hikes. Spring is almost here!
Above, spring snowflake.
The photo above was taken on New Year’s eve inside the Madeleine Church. I had walked by the building a few times but I had never realized it was a church (since it looks like a Greek temple) so I entered to check it out. Inside, there was this modern-style nativity scene depicting Mary and Joseph watching a picture of baby Jesus on a flat screen TV. The faces of the white mannequins (an army of angels apparently) also change from time to time. Very strange and slightly creepy… It was designed by Gaëtan Duthu, a young French designer.
