Hike around Pointe de la Sambuy: Col du Drison, Pointe de Chaurionde, Col d'Orgeval, Vallon de Saint-Ruph
Last summer, I went on a hike in the Bauges mountains: Starting from the upper station of Télésiège de la Sambuy, I walked a trail around Pointe de la Sambuy, passing by Chalet de la Bouchasse, Col du Drison, the summit of Pointe de Chaurionde, Col d’Orgeval and finally getting back to Faverges through Vallon de Saint-Ruph.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML):
In the morning, I took a LIHSA bus from Annecy to Faverges, then boarded a free summer shuttle to the Seythenex-Sambuy ski resort, just like the time I went up Pointe de la Sambuy. At the resort, I took the chairlift then started walking towards Chalet de la Bouchasse. I kept going on a trail below Pointe de la Sambuy to Chalets du Drison and Col du Drison. I ate lunch then started on the ascent to the summit of Pointe de Chaurionde, the highest point of the day. There was a great view on the Bauges and Bornes mountains from there. I went down on the other side to Col d’Orgeval and then walked through the forest in Vallon de Saint-Ruph, until I reached a dirt road along the Saint-Ruph torrent. The road became paved after a while and I followed it all the way down to Faverges, in order to take the bus back to Annecy.
