Hike to Tête d'Auferrand & Pointe de Deux Heures
Last summer, I went on a hike to Tête d’Auferrand and Pointe de Deux Heures, in the Bornes mountains near Le Grand-Bornand.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML):
In the morning, I took a LIHSA bus from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand, where I boarded the summer shuttle to Le Chinaillon. Once there, I started walking towards Col de la Colombière. Before reaching it, I took a small trail that led to the foot of Pointe de la Botte. I went around the Pointe to find the standard trail on the other side. I followed it to Tête d’Auferrand then walked on the ridge to Pointe de Deux Heures (literally “2-Hour Peak”, so called because it should take ~2 hours to reach it from Col de la Colombière). There was a great view from up there, both on the Bornes and Aravis. I ate lunch then started on the way down. I went down towards Combe des Fours, going off trail for a bit. Just after the chalet, I took the trail to Col de la Colombière. From there, I had to walk on the side of the road for a few minutes in order to find the trail I took on the way up. Once in Le Chinaillon, I caught the summer shuttle then boarded a LIHSA bus to get back to Annecy.
