Walk in Amsterdam #2
I walked from De Pijp to the canals at the center of Amsterdam. I then headed to Vondelpark. After leaving the park, I walked south towards Beatrixpark then completed the loop.
Walk in Amsterdam
Starting in Museumplein, I walked to the canals in the center of Amsterdam. Near Amsterdam Centraal, I took a free ferry across the IJ to Amsterdam North (Noord). I went inside the EYE Filmmuseum then walked along the shore for a bit. I then crossed the IJ again and walked towards the Science Center NEMO.
Amsterdam
I finally arrived in Amsterdam in mid-December. It took me a few days to get settled but I live now in De Pijp (just south of the centre of Amsterdam). Here are a few photos I took since I arrived.
Tokyo walk: Harajuku & Aoyama
The Harajuku/Aoyama area is a popular shopping and entertainment district in Tokyo. There are also shrines and a lot of high-end residences.
Sunshine 60 Observatory
Sunshine City is a commercial complex in the Ikebukuro area: It features a variety of facilities including an office building, an aquarium, a shopping center and the Sunshine 60 Observatory. At 250m, the latter offers the highest point of view in the neighbourhood and a great view on Tokyo.
Tokyo walk: Ikebukuro to Gokoku-ji Temple
After eating ramen, I was walking at random and taking pictures in Ikebukuro. Next thing I knew, I was on a pilgrimage through the temples in the area, ending at Gokoku-ji in Bunkyo.
Walk along the Sumida River (Part 1): From Asakusa to Minami-Senju
The Sumida River (隅田川; Sumida-gawa) is a river in eastern Tokyo that starts at the Iwabuchi Sluice Gate in Kita and flows into Tokyo Bay. There is a walkway along its bank almost everywhere along the way. Here are photos of the walk starting from Asakusa and going north to Minami-Senju, in Arakawa City.

Meiji Shrine
Meiji Shrine (明治神宮; Meiji Jingu) is a shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. It is located near Yoyogi Park. I visited it in January, on the same day as the Coming of Age day (成人の日; Seijin-no-Hi).
Plum Festival at Makuyama Park
As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently went to Makuyama Park for the Plum Festival. It celebrates the blossom of the 4000 plum (ume) trees of the park. Here are more photos of the event.
