Tokyo has countless buddhist temples and shinto shrines, as well as (at least) one mosque. It also has its fair share of churches. Here are a few.
Takeshiba Pier is a combination of ferry terminal and promenade. This is where the ferries to the Izu and Ogasawara islands depart from. It also has a great view on the Rainbow Bridge and the mouth of the Sumida River.
Koishikawa Botanical Garden (小石川植物園) is a garden in Bunkyo managed by the University of Tokyo. It exhibits and preserves many tree and plant species and includes a traditional Japanese landscape garden.
The Bunkyo Civic Center is the government building for Bunkyo City, in Tokyo. Its 25th floor houses a free observatory.
Tokyo Disney Resort is an entertainment complex in Chiba, just east of Tokyo. It has 2 theme parks (Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea), a large shopping mall (Ikspiari Town) and hotels. I went there to have a quick look when I was in the neighbourhood.
Kiyosumi Garden (清澄庭園) is a traditional Japanese garden located in Fukagawa, Tokyo. The central pond has a large number of turtles.
Gojoten Jinja (五条天神社) is a shinto shrine located inside Ueno Park. It holds its annual festival in May. In 2014, it was at the same time as the Yushima Tenmangu shrine festival: I was walking away from that festival when I saw another mikoshi parade just across Chuo Dori.
Yushima Tenmangu (湯島天満宮), also known as Yushima Tenjin (湯島天神), is a shinto shrine in Bunkyo, not far from Ueno Park. It holds its annual festival in May.
Takuzousu Inari Engi (澤蔵司稲荷 縁起) is a shrine (with some buddhist influence) in Koishikawa (Bunkyo).
