Hike to Cascade de la Belle Inconnue
Last winter, I went on a walk to Cascade de la Belle Inconnue, a waterfall near Thônes.
Here is a map of the path I walked:

In early afternoon, I took a Car Région bus (line Y63) and got off in Thônes. At first, I walked along the Fier then crossed the river and made a detour to the confluence of the Fier and the Malnant (which comes from Vallée de Montremont). I then continued walking towards Morette on a dirt road. At Morette, I walked on the side of the road for a few minutes in order to reach the start of the trail to Cascade de la Belle Inconnue. I had already attempted to reach it before: I had tried to follow the IGN map which placed the trail on the left bank of the river (Nant du Cruet) leading to the waterfall but that didn’t seem right. This time, I walked on a right bank, like the photos shown on this site. There was a good trail at first, then the trail kinda disappeared and it became quite steep and slippery (so maybe, it could be worth it trying on the left bank again). Finally, I arrived below the waterfall, but, from the right bank, it stayed somewhat hidden. I could have forded the river but I wasn’t feeling it so I stayed on my side in the end. I went back down then walked on the side of the road to the Morette bus stop.
