Hike to Mont de Musièges
At the end of last summer, I went on a hike to Mont de Musièges, a small mountain south of Le Vuache.
Here is a map of the path I walked:
Mont de Musièges is a small mountain near Le Vuache but is visible from far away. It is marked as simply Le Mont on the IGN map. When I looked for information about the path to the summit, I was surprised that I couldn’t find any hiking guide or report about it. The closest was a description of the itinerary of a trail running race passing through the mountain, the Trail de Musièges.

In the morning, I took a LIHSA bus (line 22) from Annecy and got off at the Bonlieu hamlet in Sallenôves. At first, I headed to Contamine-Sarzin, where I had already been coming from Col du Mont Sion when I followed the Camino de Santiago. I then walked to the service road going to the telecom antenna at the summit of Mont de Musièges. However, I soon found a forest trail that went straight to the summit. There was a viewpoint there with a view on the valley below. I took another trail that started near the antenna: It followed the cliff of the mountain and led to a place with a great view on Le Vuache. I then went down in the forest towards Musièges. I passed through the shrine at Oratoire Notre-Dame du Mont and reached the paved road after a while. I followed it down to the village of Musièges and then on to the hamlet of Serrasson near the Usses river. I took a bus back to Annecy from there.
