Hike along the Viéran river
At the beginning of 2020, I went on a hike along the Viéran river, north of Annecy. I had already followed part of it when I walked from Pont de la Caille to Argonay & Annecy: This time I followed the course of the river all the way until its confluence with the Fier river.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML, download large map):
In the morning, I took a LIHSA bus (line T72) from Annecy and got off in Fillière. I crossed the highway then headed towards the river. The Viéran starts under the name Ruisseau de Pitacrot in Cuvat below Montagne de la Mandallaz. It then takes the name Viéran near the highway: This is where I started. It then flows through Pringy on the way to its confluence with the Fier river, at the Vallon du Fier in Annecy. Most of the trail is unmarked on the IGN map but it is quite easy to follow and without much difficulty (apart from a couple of fords). Once I reached the confluence, I followed the Fier upstream using some small trails along the river. I then crossed a pedestrian bridge to get to the city.
