Hike to Col de Tamié: From Faverges to Albertville
In the fall of last year, I went on a hike from Faverges to Albertville through Col de Tamié.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML, download large image):
In the morning, I took a LIHSA bus from Annecy to Faverges (line 51). In order to reach Col de Tamié, I first walked up to Château de Faverges. I then passed by Grand Pont de Seythenex, a bridge across Torrent de Saint-Ruph (aka Eau Morte, aka La Glière). I kept going up and reached Abbaye de Tamié, a monastery. I then tried taking a shortcut, but it was blocked by a farm, so I ending up having to double back. I walked along the road for the last part until Col de Tamié. I went up to Fort de Tamié, where I had already been many years ago. From the main gate, I followed the wall of the fort until a viewpoint on Albertville, Combe de Savoie and the surrounding mountains (including Mont Blanc). I ate lunch then started on the way down to Albertville, through the village of Mercury. The sun set a bit before I got to Albertville proper. I reached the train station then took a LIHSA bus back to Annecy.
