Hike to Lanfonnet & Pointe de Talamarche
The Lanfonnet is a mountain in the Bornes Massif, located near Lake Annecy between the Dents de Lanfon and La Tournette. It offers a great view on the lake and those mountains. The Pointe de Talamarche is another summit nearby, with a good view on the Dents de Lanfon. This page describes a path to get to the Lanfonnet and back in a loop, starting from Vérel in Talloires. I didn’t actually do the loop: Instead of going down to Col des Nantets, I basically took the same path on the way back but made a detour to the Pointe de Talamarche on the way.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML):
I started in Talloires, from the same location as for the hike to Cascade d’Angon and Ermitage de Saint-Germain. This time, I went directly to the Ermitage. I then continued on the paved road to the start of the trail near the Base Nature Aventure park, occasionally cutting through the forest. From there, the trail goes through the Forest of Lanfon to Col des Frêtes and passes just south of the Dents de Lanfon. It is quite steep and the last part was very slippery. When arriving at the Col, I made my way to the pastures below (Aulp Riant Dessous) then went up to the pastures of the Aulp Riant Dessus. I went all the way to the southern limit, where there is a wall to prevent animals from falling, and followed it to the Roche Murraz, which is the most accessible of the summits of the Lanfonnet. As expected, the view from there was great. On the way back, I took pretty much the same path but I made a detour through the Pointe de Talamarche and walked a bit in the direction of Thônes while up there. I then went back down to the lake.
