Tokyo Walk: Kameido / Sarue Onshi Park / Yokojukkengawa Water Park / Kiba Park
After visiting Kameido Shrine, I went on a walk along the Yokojukken Canal until I reached Kiba Park.
After visiting Kameido Shrine, I went on a walk along the Yokojukken Canal until I reached Kiba Park.
After Todoroki Valley, I continued walking south until I reached the Tama River (多摩川). It is the same river that passes through Okutama and Ome. I then followed it until Tamagawadai Park, famous for its hydrangea (which bloom in early summer).
Starting at Oji station, I walked on a pedestrian path along the Takinogawa River (滝野川) until I reached Naka-Itabashi station. The path is lined with many cherry trees.
Just like the Kanda River, the Meguro River in southern Tokyo is lined with concrete and cherry trees. It is a very popular spot during cherry blossom season and, even on a week day, it was quite crowded. The path starts at Ikejiri-Ohashi station near the Meguro Sky Garden. The crowd thins out considerably east of Meguro station but there are still cherry trees all the way to Shinagawa.
Starting at Edogawa Park in Bunkyo, I walked on a pedestrian path along the Kanda River until I reached Takadanobaba. The river is lined with cherry trees that were at their peak bloom when I visited.
Sumida Park straddles both sides of the Sumida River near Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. It contains a large number of cherry trees that make it a very popular spot during cherry blossom season. I went there after Ueno Park, since it is quite close.
On my last day in Kyoto, I went on a random walk: I passed through the Imperial Park, walked along the Kamo River and visited the Higashiyama neighbourhood.
Osaka is the biggest city in the Kansai region. By train, it takes about 30min to get there from Kyoto.
After visiting Senso-ji, I went for a walk in the area of Tokyo east of the Sumida River.
The Otama Trail is in Okutama City, in Nishitama District, the westernmost area of Tokyo. It is a gentle path that follows the Tama River from Kori to Okutama through well-built trails, mountain roads and suspension bridges. I followed it for a short section, from Hatonosu to Shiromaru Dam. Autumn colors were not fully there yet but the sights were still great.
