L’Observatoire de la Capitale is an observatory in Québec City. It offers a 360° view from the 31st floor of Edifice Marie-Guyart (altitude of 221m), near the Parliament of Québec. There was heavy rain when I visited so the visibility was limited but it was still interesting to see from above all the landmarks of the city.
After visiting the lower town of Old Québec, I went on a short walk along the Saint-Lawrence River, in the Old Port (Vieux Port) towards Pointe à Carcy. It started to rain quite hard so I returned to the upper town along Bassin Louise.
I had to be in Hanover, Germany for 2 days last week. I had a little time to walk in the city and take a few pictures.
The Réserve Naturelle du Bout du Lac is a nature reserve located in the marshland at the southern end of Lake Annecy, where the Ire and Eau Morte rivers flow into the lake. The park has trails for pedestrians and horse riders, as well as viewpoints on the lake. There are also beavers in the rivers but I did not see any during my visit. Unfortunately, it started to rain pretty hard while I was there so I had to rush a bit.
After completing the Otama Walking Trail, I took the bus to Lake Okutama. My goal was to walk the Ikoi trail to the floating bridge but the path was closed for repair. It had also started to rain very hard on the way there so I cut the visit short.
Nijo Castle (二条城; Nijōjō) was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Period (1603-1867).
Located in Kyoto’s eastern mountain range on Mount Hiei (比叡山), Enryakuji (延暦寺) is one of the most important monasteries in Japanese history. Enryakuji’s temples are concentrated in three areas: Todo (east area), Saito (west area) and Yokawa (which I did not visit). I went there using the Sakamoto Cablecar, the longest cable car route in Japan. While I was there, it was raining heavily and there was a lot of fog.
A few weeks ago, I went back to Mount Takao, in Hachioji City, in western Tokyo. This time, the objective was to hike all the way to Mount Jinba, passing through the summits of Mount Kobotoke-Shiroyama and Mount Kagenobu along the way. Although it started to rain quite heavily at some stage, I still had a great time.
