“Apentafel” (monkey table) by artist Merijn Bolink. It is located in Zoutkeetsplein, in the Zeeheldenbuurt neighborhood of Amsterdam.
The Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen is a square in Amsterdam near Leidseplein. It contains 40 bronze statues of iguanas and lizards made by artist Hans van Houwelingen.
The Tokyo University of the Arts in Ueno is one of the oldest art schools in Japan. For one week at the end of January, they opened their doors to the public for an exhibition of the works of the graduating students.
The National Art Center, Tokyo is a museum in Roppongi. Instead of maintaining a permanent collection, it focuses on serving as a venue for various art exhibitions. The architect for the building was Kisho Kurokawa. The facility has 47,960 m² of floor space on a 30,000 m² site with four stories above ground and one below.
When I took the pic above in the 13th arrondissement of Paris last Saturday, some dude who was passing by told me it was by an artist named Vhils and that I should look him up on the internet. So:
The photo above was taken on New Year’s eve inside the Madeleine Church. I had walked by the building a few times but I had never realized it was a church (since it looks like a Greek temple) so I entered to check it out. Inside, there was this modern-style nativity scene depicting Mary and Joseph watching a picture of baby Jesus on a flat screen TV. The faces of the white mannequins (an army of angels apparently) also change from time to time. Very strange and slightly creepy… It was designed by Gaëtan Duthu, a young French designer.
Definitely seizure inducing but pretty awesome. I can’t stop watching…
