Hike to Montagne d'Hirmentaz & Pointe de Miribel

In autumn 2021, I went on a hike to Montagne d’Hirmentaz and Pointe de Miribel, in the Chablais mountains near Bellevaux.

In the morning, I took a Car Région bus (line Y02) from Annemasse until the penultimate stop, near the ski resort of Hirmentaz. I started walking up to the resort then took a ridge trail towards the summit of Montagne d’Hirmentaz. There was a great view from there, especially since there was a sea of clouds on the valleys below. I then went down to a saddle and went up again on the other side. I walked another ridge towards Col du Creux, a pass between Montagne d’Hirmentaz and Pointe de Miribel.

From the pass, I first followed a dirt road to the Chalets d’Ajon then walked the short path to the summit of Pointe de Miribel through a pasture. Near the summit, there were stations of the cross. At the summit, there was a statue of the Holy Virgin and a few other crosses. There was again a great view: The sea of clouds was still there and Mont Blanc could be seen. Even Mont du Chat near Lac du Bourget was peaking above the clouds. After a while, I started on the way down, this time towards the bus stop of Villard in Vallée Verte. The sun set as I reached the outskirts of the village.
