Hike to Chalet de Cotagne
In the fall of 2022, I went on a hike to Chalet de Cotagne, above Thônes, on the mountian known as Montagne de Cotagne. There was a great view on the Thônes valley and the Aravis.
Here is a map of the path I walked:

In the morning, I took a Car Région (line Y62) bus to Thônes. I started walking to the trailhead nearby at the neighbourhood known as Le Paradis. The trail started as a series of switchbacks. At some point, it passed next to a cliff and became quite steep but there were chains to help. After a while, I reached Le Torchon and the ridge of the mountain. I followed the trail until Chalet de Cotagne. There was a great view from there. I ate lunch then started on the way down the same way at first, until a fork where I took an easier trail towards the hamlet of Chamossière. Once in the valley, I followed the Fier river to Thônes.
