Hike to Petit Salève

Last fall, I went on a hike to Petit Salève, above Geneva.

In the morning, I took the train to Annemasse. Since it was Sunday and there was no bus, I started walking from the train station towards the Arve. I crossed it on Pont d’Étrembières and took a path along the river. At some point, I passed under a highway bridge then over the train track. I arrived in Mornex and headed towards the start of the Petit Salève trail: I first walked in the forest to Crêt du Chale, a viewpoint on the Arve valley then made a detour through Pierre Vieille, a glacial erratic. After that, I walked up to the summit of Petit Salève, then went down towards Monnetier. On the way, there was a viewpoint with a great view on Geneva. From Monnetier, I took the Sentier du Pas de l’Échelle, which was very steep. I arrived in Étrembières then crossed the border to get to Veyrier in Geneva. I boarded a TPG bus to Cornavin where I transferred to a Léman Express train.
