Hike from Rumilly to Seynod through Saint-Sylvestre / Cascade du Voile de la Mariée
During winter 2020, I went on a hike from Rumilly to Seynod, passing by the village of Saint-Sylvestre and Cascade du Voile de la Mariée (a waterfall in Chapeiry).
Here is a map of the path I walked:

In late morning, I took the train from Annecy to Rumilly nearby. I then started walking towards Base de Loisirs du Plan d’Eau, like when I walked from Rumilly to Albens a few years ago. This time, I crossed the Chéran river using Passerelle de l’Île and walked on the other side of the river towards Saint-Sylvestre. The village is located around a hill with a church (Église Saint-Sylvestre) at the top. There was no trail to get there so I walked on the side of the road for a while. At the top of the hill, I made a detour to Chapelle Saint-Sylvestre then took a trail down towards Nant de l’Eau Salée and Cascade du Voile de la Mariée (Waterfall of the Bridal Veil). After that, I went up to the village of Chapeiry.
. At Chapeiry there was a good view on Semnoz and Parmelan. Finally I walked down just as the sun was setting, crossed the highway and arrived at La Treige in Seynod. I waited there for the bus back to Annecy.

I didn’t know about it when I went on this hike, but, to the right of the chapel, there is a trail to go down to the “Failles de Saint-Sylvestre” (Faults of Saint-Sylvestre), an interesting rock formation. I went there a few months ago. Here are a few pictures from then.
After the chapel, I went down towards Nant de l’Eau Salée.
