Hike to Pointe de la Galoppaz & Pic de la Sauge
Last summer, I went on a hike to Pointe de la Galoppaz and Pic de la Sauge, in the Bauges mountains not far from Chambéry.
Here is a map of the path I walked:

In the morning, I took the train to Chambéry then boarded a summer bus to Aillon-le-Jeune (new in 2021) and got off at the terminus in Aillons-Margériaz 1000. I started walking on the side of the road towards Col du Lindar but took a trail in the forest before I reached it. It got me to Chalet de la Buffaz and Col de la Buffaz. I then walked to the summit of Pointe de la Galoppaz. There was a great view from there. I started on the way down to Col de la Galoppaz between Pointe de la Galoppaz and Pic de la Sauge. At first there was no trail and I walked in the grass. At the Col, I found the trail to Pic de la Sauge. Once I reached the summit, I went down on the other side towards the village of Puygros. In the morning, I had planned to walk until Thoiry and catch the bus back from there to Chambéry. However, the schedule was tight so instead, I decided to walk all the way down to the valley: I walked to Canyon de Ternèze in Curienne, then on the side of the road in order to reach Barby in the valley. I boarded a local Synchro Bus to the Chambéry train station from there.
