My new photobook: 2020
Recently, I published a new photobook through Amazon KDP: It is called 2020 and contains a few of my favorite photos I took during the year 2020.
Here is a sample PDF with a few pages: Sample PDF.
The book is available on all Amazon stores as a paperback:
Here are a few photos of the cover and interior:
Above, glossy cover. This is a shadow of me taking a super interesting photo of the leaves of a cherry tree.
Above, the book is square with a size of 8.5"x8.5". The photos take the whole page.
Above, this time, the book was printed in Italy, in Torrazza Piemonte near Turin. It arrived pretty quickly after ordering. Previous Amazon KDP books I ordered were printed in Poland and England.
Above, back cover.
Like my two previous books (Hiking in Annecy and Hiking in Tokyo), I used Scribus for the layout of the book. It would certainly have been possible to use a fully programmatic approach like I described here, since the layout was quite simple. However, I wrote some Python scripts for Scribus that make it very easy to layout and reorder pages of a photobook in an interactive fashion so I think I will keep using that from now on. I will write a tutorial on the process very soon.
