Hike to Mont Charvin
For my last hike of the summer, I went to Mont Charvin, a mountain in the Aravis range located near Faverges. I followed this itinerary.
Here is a map of the path I walked (download KML):
This mountain is not very easily accessible by bike so I went there by car with my father. After the parking, I started on the trail to the Refuge de l’Aulp de Marlens, a farm that also serves as restaurant and sells cheese. Instead of going directly to the summit of Mont Charvin, I then continued by taking the trail to Col des Porthets then to the Lac du Mont Charvin. From there, I first reached the Pas de l’Ours then took the Arête du Lac (Lake Ridge) to the summit: There were a few passages where hands were needed but it was not very difficult. After a while, I reached the summit. Unfortunately, it had started to be very cloudy so the view was not that great. Normally, it is possible to see all the Bauges Massif and the Mont Blanc. I then went down to the Refuge and continued to the parking, before going back to Annecy.
