Hike to Mount To, Mount Tanzawa & Mount Sannoto

Last week, I went back to the Tanzawa mountains in Kanagawa Prefecture. This time, I hiked up Mount To (塔ノ岳; 1491m ; aka Tonodake), Mount Tanzawa (丹沢山; 1567m) and Mount Sannoto (三ノ塔; 1205m). Those mountains are quite popular: They are easily accessible with public transportation and the trail is very well-developed (stairs and huts at every summit). When the weather is good, it can offer great views on Mount Fuji. I was unlucky though: The forecast was “Sunny” but there was a lot of fog instead.

I reached the trail by first taking the Odakyu Line train to Shibusawa station (渋沢駅). Then I took the bus to the Okura (大倉) bus terminal. After that, I just followed the signs. The trail follows the Okura Ridge (大倉尾根) on the way to Mount To. I then continued on to Mount Tanzawa before coming back to Mount To. On the way down, instead of taking the same path I came, I took the trail to Yabitsu Pass (ヤビツ峠): It goes through the summit of Mount Sannoto before reaching the pass. From there, I took the bus to Hadano station.
