Sanji at the Grand Tsukemen Fest in Shinjuku
The Grand Tsukemen Fest is a yearly all-Japan competition featuring the best tsukemen shops in the country. The final round with the 24 best entries has been taking place for the past few weeks in Ohkubo Park in Kabukicho and will last until next Wednesday. Each week, 6 of the finalists serve their specialty tsukemen.
After eating your tsukemen and if you liked it, you can get a token to cast a vote for the shop. At the end of the event, some formula decides which shop is the winner and gets the cup.
A few days ago, I went and checked out Sanji, from Oyama in Tochigi Prefecture. Their soup is made of fish, beef, chicken and pork. It was pretty good, even though the line before getting served was quite long.
